Responding to a message posted this morning one reader wrote (on another ephilosopher forum) that it was a sales pitch. You saw me message on this forum as well. I was informing people about a useful tool (for creation of webpages) called Google Sites, and about my tutorial for it. Please read my reply below.

Why do you think it was a "sale pitch"? I wrote this Google Sites tutorial to help people. I am not selling anything; the tutorial is FREE. Google did not ask me to write it. I am sharing the link because I know that many people will benefit from my labor. Would you also object if the author of the tutorial were John Smith, who I do not know? What is wrong with sharing FREE useful information?

Was the responder correct in labeling my message as a "sale pitch" or not? If yes then why? If not the why? I am a new subscriber; was this topic discussed this previously? If so then please share the link

Any particular reason you felt compelled to share this with us on more than a dozen threads?

Any particular insights you have to offer us on the philosophical issues we discuss in these forums?

And then, using google, I found this at academia.edu:

In the past my primary preoccupations were teaching and experimental research in nuclear physics. After retiring in 2004 I am conducting verification experiments in the controversial area of the so-called "cold fusion," trying to find a simple reproducible-on-demand demonstration of a strong nuclear effect due to a chemical process. Why am I doing this? Because I believe that claims made by reputable scientists should be taken seriously, even when they conflict with what is expected.

I am also interested the USSR history. My two books related to that subject are available at www.amazon.com (search for Ludwik Kowalski). The most recent one (2009) is my autobiography. That short book is based my diaries composed since 1946 (in the USSR, Poland, France and the USA). Comments would be appreciated.

You seem to be a rather fascinating individual.

Please share this information with all who might be interested. These two books are dedicated to all victims of Stalinism, including my parents. Some of the book topics are probably worth discussing on this list. I would be happy to participate, or to provide additional information.

I was never a Stalinist myself, but I did belong to a number of socialist/marxist political organizations "in my youth".

But I abandoned them [as I did Objectivism] when I first encountered Simone de Beauvoir's novel, "The Blood of Others".

I've been a nihilist [though creative would insist Nihilist] ever since. Now I pretty much subsbribe to the notion that few things in life are more distressful than believing in a [bleak] philosophy of life you can't talk yourself out of.

That's what the creatives and szavieurs in here don't get. I want them to talk me out of it!!!

Or maybe Greatist I am can do it. ; o )
